One Man Metal – a look at isolationist solo black metal

All three parts of Vice’s mini documentary One Man Metal are now online and streaming below. The doc tracks down and talks with three elusive one man black metal outfits, Leviathan, Xasthur and Striborg (travelling as far as Tasmania to reach him) for some candid interviews about their music, living in isolation and personal strife. It makes for some interesting viewing and gives an insight into seemingly emotionally unstable figures in black metal. What’s more is that the film was made before some notable changes happened to each respective musician. It leaves a void for this project to be started again. Who knows? Maybe.
