This week has been quite busy with new music and it’s not showing any sign of letting up. This evening the always magnificent Katatonia released the first taster track from their new album, Dead End Kings. The song, ‘Dead Letters’, in many ways, captures the essence this band. It’s dripping with melancholy, the guitars are heavy but lushly melodic and poignant meanwhile Jonas Renkse’s vocals are every bit as stunning as usual. The end result is a very heartening preview for this album from a band that has never released an album that’s below average.
