Is this highly anticipated or what? Dream have posted a new track online at last from their new album A Dramatic Turn of Events, their first album with new drummer Mike Mangini. Listen to ‘On The Backs Of Angels’ below.

The always grandiose and effusive feel of Dream Theater is very much intact on this track, opening with a winding instrumental section before LaBrie’s familiar vocals enter, followed by more familiarity in Petrucci and Rudess’ playing. Mangini appears to have slotted into the band very well, though that will become more clear when the album is released in September. ‘On The Backs of Angels’ will be the opening track on the new album and so will be imperative in setting a tone.
